climb "Marco Pantani" (7.056 km)
Once you have descended from the top of the Langhe and passed the villages of Niella Belbo, Feisoglio, Cravanzana and the hamlet of Bosia, turn to the left near the road sign to the hamlet of Garilli-Follo, and pass over the bridge over the Belbo river, go to the next crossroads, then turn left, where the ‘Marco Pantani’ climb starts.
At the beginning, you will have to face up to eight steep hairpin bends, they will lead you in a short time to a remarkable altitude. You will pass by an old farmhouse covered with the typical stones of the Alps: they are large and flat, and are called ‘ciapele’ in the local dialect. You will go through several hazelnut groves: this is in fact the heart of the local production of the ‘tonda gentile’ hazelnuts of the Langhe, which display
the most appreciated organoleptic features for the confectionery industry. The most difficult part of the climb ends after 4.67 Km near the small church of San Michele, with a fountain at the resting place. Following the tableland uphill, you will reach Lequio Berria. Under the arcade near the town hall, we suggest you visit the local Pastel Collection, which is housed in the same building.
