climb "Fausto Coppi" (3.602 Km)
Take the road to Monesiglio-Mombarcaro, and go downhill as far as the Belbo Valley. If you turn to the right, you can reach the ‘Fuori Traccia’ hostel, where you can stay overnight (bikes included) and have lunch or dinner. If you turn to the left, going along the Belbo torrent and potato fields, you reach the start of the ‘Fausto Coppi’ climb, which begins near the chapel ‘Pilone del Reduce’. This climb will lead you to the highest village of the Langhe; it starts immediately with a steep gradient through the hamlet of Valle. After 1.8 Km you reach the main road; turn to t
he left next to the church of San Luigi, where the level ground starts, and you will enjoy an extraordinary view over the Belbo valley on one side and the Bormida valley on the other. On reaching the village of Mombarcaro, you pass through a wonderful arch leading to the main square, where the ‘Fausto Coppi’ climb ends. We suggest you have a break in the main square to admire the wonderful landscape; on a clear day it is even possible to see the Ligurian Gulf.
