“Jacques Anquetil climb” (6.3 km)
After the hamlet of Bonvicino, you follow the downhill road towards Dogliani, taking the first road on the left that leads to Lovera-Murazzano. The ‘Jacques Anquetil’ climb starts just after a picturesque, small bridge on the Rea torrent.
At the beginning, the climb is characterized by 5 hairpin bends through the woods; then the gradient becomes gentler, and you reach the Lovera hamlet, where you can enjoy a wonderful view over the westernmost part of the Po Valley, with the whole of the Piedmontese Alps in the background. It is quite usual to see sheep an
d cows in the meadows along the road: their milk is the basic ingredient for a famous local cheese, the tuma of Murazzano. The climb ends after 6.3 Km before entering the village of Murazzano, near the old mill. Murazzano is one of the largest villages of Higher Langa; its old town was built around a beautiful medieval tower. Here you can find good restaurants and bakeries: it is an ideal resting place for cyclists.
